Based on the early 19th century artist Francisco Goya, this Spanish, surreal-stylized play explores the almost deaf artist's career declining as he begins to see his unorthoxed "Black Paintings" come to life in his mind. The script specifically calls for the use of projections when portraying all of the artwork.  Creating a skeletal, cage-like set with many opportunities for fill/void projection surfaces and a more traditional stage facade, the design emphasizes the contrast between the king's realistic world and Goya's constant dream state.
